MY BIO

'My kids rebelled they all got degrees, & you got a first at Chelsea', according to my dad, who loves the hippie lifestyle, it was clear from an early age that I was creative & going to do something about it. To me it was natural, I thought everyone was instinctively creative. I thank my Grandma who, in an age when women weren’t meant to work, became an incredible designer & dearly wanted my mum to be the same but it was me who followed in her footsteps. I grew up in the 80s & was the only retro kid at school, inspired by the 50s, fancying Elvis, going to Rock ‘n’ Roll dances in prom dresses while the rest fancied Jason Donovan & wore shell suits. I kept up with the times although the next decade for me Was the 60s when at sixteen I embraced the Mod attitude. Now I bring together the best from these exciting decades & the 00s to shape & form the way in which I design. I love to see the whole picture & then hone in to explore the many different facets within. Always researching, discovering & pushing to further myself but then draw the attitude & energy from the eras that still have a profound influence on me & many others. Rose Hill Designs, a creative independent illustration/design company. It promotes a trademark style of British Pop Art for greeting cards, stationery, artworks & commissions - all that make you smile. Since the launch at Top Drawer Autumn 2013 she has completed some amazing commissions. A collaborated with ZSL London Zoo designing: stationery, artworks & mugs for a ‘Pop-up Shop’ in Central London. They are also stocking another range in the main gift shops at the ZSL Zoo’s. Another design commission has been for Harrods the luxury store & they are stocking another collection under her own name. Harrods are launching ‘Make your Pet Famous’ in Summer 2015. Recently she has completed a series of mugs for World Wide Fund (WWF), a personal Christmas card for Sadie Frost. She currently is illustrating a children’s book with Shade 7 Publishing. The press have acclaimed the playful illustrations, receiving numerous coverage including Mail on Sunday, Easy Living, Islington tribune, Greetings today & Progressive Greetings. Added to all this is an elite client base that includes: Charles Saatchi, Robert Webb & Sadie Frost. Rose’s artworks will appear in “Kids in Love” a feature film, starring British super model Cara Delevingne, 2015. Previous experience: Her degree was in textiles, which has influenced her work through the use of colour & pattern, & still is a very important part of the process in her designs. The first commercial commission was for Kay & Charles Saatchi to make a dress for their daughter’s 13th birthday. Then followed some other very prestigious commissions from the fashion editor Amanda Eliasch & Charlie Allen the tailor that designed the 2010 England World Cup kit. To gain more ‘hands-on’ commercial experience she worked in-house for a number of leading companies including Charlie Allen, Woolworths, MYER (in Australia for 2 years), a print studio & freelanced for other companies such as Ted Baker, Debenhams, Abigail Ahern & John Lewis.
