My Buzz

Our aims are to reduce waste and create more sustainable communities, and inspire creativity through craft workshops focused on using recycled fabric and materials. Also combining textiles and tech to create innovative creative mindful sessions. This is important in having the opportunity to talk about common issues and/or experiences, bereavement etc. whilst being creative

My Bio

Janet has over 30yrs of design and creating experience and 11 years of qualified teaching experience within secondary schools and alternative provisions. She set up Feed My Creative in 2016 as she was frustrated with the education system pushing students into subjects that they didn’t choose or enjoy and wanted to build a platform for people to be creative without the need to be in a classroom of twenty plus. It was also important for her to get rid of the misconception that sewing is something for females only.

Janet has over 30 years of design and creating experience and 12 years of qualified teaching experience within secondary schools and alternative provisions. She has won many awards and recognitions for the work she has done with Feed My Creative which include winning Business of the Year, Company of the Year, Mumpreneur of the Year, as well as being a finalist for the Great British Entrepreneur of the Year in the Creative Industries Entrepreneur of the Year category in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, the Birmingham Awards and MBCC Awards. She was also listed as one of 55 inspiring entrepreneurs in the Social Entrepreneurs Index in 2020 and 2022.

My Business Tips

Always write things down, being an ideas person I have many notebooks but  I’m a firm believer of nothing happens before it’s time. If I write it is easier to plan ahead normally mind maps as it’s a working document and visually easier to cross off things I’ve achieved (usually with a highlighter!)

My Latest Offers

The RE:PROJECT was created by Feed My Creative CIC in 2019 to work with two groups, first with young offenders to help with rehabilitation and to prevent reoffending, creating a platform for young people to use their creative mind and skill set as an alternative solution and also with local women’s refuge working with survivors of domestic abuse and church groups to donate toiletry packs to vulnerable people (young mums, homeless, low income families etc). ✨

We work with the young people to demonstrate how to make a range of repurposed bags made from settee covers previously donated to us by @ikeauk Wednesbury to generate income and provide job opportunities. ✨

In the summer of 2021 we were successful in gaining a small grant to hand make and fill 200 toiletry packs by March 2022. These are filled with full sized branded toiletries that will be donated on to various vulnerable groups

So far we have had support from some major big brands @palmers @hereweflo @inkinddirect with either product donations or by giving us the opportunity to purchase products at a highly reduced rate.

The funds raised will be used to purchase the necessary toiletry items to fill these packs. I’m a firm believer that just because your circumstances have changed, it shouldn’t mean you can’t have access to quality products. ✨

Help us to support those that need it. If you are a company or brand that would like to donate items or have surplus fabric that can be used to make the bags please get in touch me.
