My Buzz

My name is Kate Chesters and I am abstract resin artist living and working in Liverpool. My work fuses contemporary art with home decor. Travelling around the world inspires me: the swirling blues of Niagara falls and the frozen landscape of Reykjavik. I decorate wooden chopping boards, placemats and artworks with resin.

All of my cheese boards, coasters, paintings and other pieces I create in my studio in Liverpool. After making hundreds of artisan boards and abstract artworks over the past year or so, the floor in my studio is absolutely COVERED in resin! I love what I do though, and it’s amazing to know that so many other people do too!

The resin artwork on my artisan boards and coasters is individually created by hand in my studio with a labour of love. I mainly work with olive wood, which is a very beautiful and strong wood. The olive wood that I use is responsible sourced and ethically produced. Only wood from very old olive trees which have come to the end of their natural fruiting life and are replaced with younger trees is used for each artisan board.

Hard wearing and practical, each artisan board is perfect for cutting and preparing food, and stylish enough to leave out when not in use. Each board has it’s own unique grain pattern and natural edge, making it an attractive addition to any kitchen.

My Bio

I studied Fine Art at Liverpool Hope University to Masters Level from 2010-2014. After being unsuccessful in securing a graduate job in the Arts, I ended up working in a car dealership - commuting 45 miles each way, every day. After 6 months I was exhausted and unhappy - so I took the plunge and quit!

A week later I had secured an art studio for myself, and I began my creative journey!

It was around Summer 2017 that I began experimenting with resin and decorating chopping boards. They proved extremely popular at the events I attended, so I knew I had found a niche in the market.

Over a year later and my business is flourishing. I sell online via my website, Etsy and Amazon, and my boards are stocked in several shops. I am beyond thrilled and grateful to be able to pursue this career in art.
