My Buzz

#SBS allowed me to build a support network of other businesses, so I could share and develop ideas. It gave me the boast and promotion I needed

My Bio

Who can forget the part in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when Wonka leads the Golden Ticket winners through the black and white corridor and they enter the most amazing room, adorned with colourful whirly lollies, bright edible flowers and of course the chocolate lake? Well it was this film (along with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang of course!) that was the inspiration behind Toot Sweets Confectionery.

Being one of my childhood favourites, I always loved the sense of fun and enjoyment that it showed sweets bring to people’s lives- and that’s exactly what I hope to offer you!

Unfortunately, I can’t recreate that amazing room, but believe me I’m working on it!

I’ve enjoyed working for several luxury chocolate companies and world class department stores, but I’ve often felt that these shops lacked the excitement and fantasy sweets and chocolates can and do produce. In 2007 I decided to create my own little heaven for sweets and chocolates and in March 2008 this website was born. I aim to bring children’s and adults confectionery fantasies to life.

Whether it’s the fun nostalgic element you’re looking for or you simply fancy treating yourself or a friend. I believe my company can help. Our service is of the highest standard possible. We pride ourselves in being able to offer a truly bespoke service each and every time, with our products and packaging especially tailored to suit individual needs.

Since March 2008 I have opened a shop in Shrewsbury, and recently just moved to a better location in the town where we can expand on our handmade chocolates and serve hot chocolates. I have always made small batches of truffles for my friends for Christmas and Birthdays, but in 2009 I decided that I wanted to try and make all the chocolates we sell in the shop. In September of that year I launched my own range of chocolates, and in July 2010 I was lucky enough to be awarded two awards from the Guild of Fine Food’s Great Taste Awards; 1 Gold Star for my White Shropshire Lavender Truffle and 2 Gold Stars for my Dark Chocolate Butterscotch. In 2011 I won 2 Stars from the Great Taste Awards for my Dark Chocolate Lavender Truffle, and in 2012 I won a BBC Good Food Show Bursary award. Making my own chocolates I have been able to concentrate on the quality of the chocolates and the ingredients used. All the chocolates are made in small batches daily in the shop; fresh tasting and exquisite.

When selecting our sweets and sourcing the ingredients we use to make our artisan chocolates we set out to find the best confectioners and producers, with the same enthusiasm for confectionery as myself. Everything from the ribbon to the gift-wrap has been carefully selected to create what we believe to be a truly unique and enjoyable shopping experience.

We will be constantly adding products to our range and expanding our services, so be sure to come back regularly. And, remember, if there’s an old favourite of yours that we are missing let us know, and then maybe we can recreate a little bit of the Willy Wonka Magic for you…..

Best Wishes Julia
