My Buzz

I am a mosaic artist who likes to use a mix of materials in my artwork, including traditional mosaic tiles, fine china and coloured glass.
My style is varied but I am influenced by flora and fauna and flowers feature heavily in my work. I make mosaic that can be displayed outdoors and well as indoors. As people spend more leisure time in their gardens mosaic art is a great way to brighten up a brick wall, display near a seating area or hot tub.
One of my specialities is to incorporate clients special or heirloom china into mosaic helping to preserve cherished memories. A unique way to tie generations together through art.
I have designed and developed a range of mosaic kits to enable people to try this wonderful artform at home. My aim is to inspire as I believe that creativity is good for the soul, mindfulness and a great way to relax.
My work and kits can be view and purchased through my website.

My Bio

I've been making mosaic from china for a number of years and love the idea of turning something old and unwanted into something beautiful and treasured again.

It all started one Christmas when my husband went into the attic to bring down the festive decorations. While he was up there he found a box of broken, chipped and unwanted bits of china, mainly Royal Albert which I had been hiding.
'Do something with it or throw it away' he said. It couldn't be used but I couldn't bear to throw it away because it was so pretty. I racked my brains, searched the internet and mosaic was my answer!

The first thing I created was a large jewellery box decorated with mosaic flowers made from the Royal Albert china I had hidden away. I gave this to my mum for Christmas that year and made a few hanging hearts to give away as gifts. People loved what I was doing so I did more and more and honed my skills to what they are today.

I now work from my own studio at Banks Mill in Derby and have taught many people how to make mosaic through my workshops, kits and demonstrations.
