My Buzz

As a small business with a limited marketing budget, it can be challenging trying to get the word out about my products, winning SBS has enabled my brand to be showcased in front of a vast amount of people, not only that, it's a great chance to network with other businesses which is key. It's an award that is held in high esteem in the land of twitter and an honour to be part of it.

My Bio

I started making soap about 10 years ago after watching a television programme where Kirstie Allsopp was is a beautiful soap shop making soap.I was desperate to leave my corporate job but wasn't sure what to do. I though that I would give soap making a try and set up my own business. I made my first batch and was hooked! After many years of making soap, practising the techniques and getting the scent combinations just right I perfected the art and set up Louisa Brown soap and then rebranded to be Louisa B Apothecary about a year ago. I attend many craft and artisan markets across Lancashire and Yorkshire as well as selling online and on Etsy.com

My Business Tips

I love a good motivational quote and this is my favourite because it is the one I keep in mind when times get tough. "Never, never, never give up" Winston Churchill. Keep your goal in mind and do something every day, no matter how small, to move your business forward. If you have an idea and it is one that you can put into action, do it, If it doesn't work try something else, don't keep doing the same thing over and over again in the hope that it will work. I've realised owning your own business is the hardest work I've ever done but its the most enjoyable, meaningful and satisfying work I have ever done, I love it!
