My Bio

We moved to Betws-y-Coed from Yorkshire in 1977 and we bought Bodlondeb in 1979. It was our home until 2010, when we renovated the adjoining property Tan-y-Foel that is now our new home.
We excavated 1500 tons of solid rock from the land surrounding both properties to extend Tan-y-Foel, this then presented an opportunity to also extend Bodlondeb to create 5 double letting rooms sleeping 11 with 3 bathrooms and this allowed us to start utilising the building as a holiday let.
Bodlondeb Holiday Cottage starting trading in April 2010, we have completed our second year in the business and despite the difficult trading environment we have almost doubled our turnover from year 1.
Bodlondeb is a charming, 17th century, stone built cottage, supremely located in the delightful village of Betws-y-Coed, the property is the oldest house in the village and was a former Coaching Inn known as the Miners Inn.
Bodlondeb also had the first ever telephone exchange in the village.
Betws-y-Coed is North Wales' most popular inland resort. Surrounded by dense woodland and magnificent mountain country, this is a haven for walkers, photographers and artists.
At Betws-y-Coed the River Conwy meets its three tributaries flowing from the west, and the beauty of the area is enhanced by cascading waterfalls, river pools and ancient bridges. Most famous of all are the magnificent Swallow Falls, situated where the Llugwy River hurls itself into a spectacular chasm. The village has shops, pubs and places to eat and is home to The Snowdonia National Park Visitor Centre.
Discover the famous Pont-y-Pair bridge, spanning the surging waters of the picturesque River Llugwy, just a stone's throw from the property on the quiet B5106 road to Gwydir Castle.
We can arrange Salmon and Sea Trout Fishing in the rivers or at the lakes and we have the services of the baliff available for fully guided game fishing and tackle hire as and when required.
The drive has parking for three or four cars and is only a few minutes walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants in the village, without the need to use a car, just park up, relax and unwind.
Renowned as the "Gateway to Snowdonia", Betws-y-Coed provides excellent mountaineering, mountain biking, canoeing and nature watching opportunities amidst the stunning mountain range that surrounds the area, together with a good choice of shops and pubs. An ideal base for an all year round action packed or restful holiday.
We will look forward to welcoming you to our self catering holiday cottage in Betws y Coed and we will do our utmost to make sure you enjoy your stay with us.
