Our Precious Earth

Fifty years ago, I took part in a beach litter survey for Keep Britain Tidy. As a child growing up near the sea, beach combing was a regular activity and has played a big part in my life. I still do regular beach cleans and, as a Litter Heroes Ambassador for Keep Britain Tidy, I encourage others to join in too.

In the autumn of 2022, I was a school caretaker looking for something different to do with my time as I was struggling with everyday life. It was while I was out one morning doing a beach clean and collecting lots of everyday rubbish washed in on the tide that I had a 'light bulb moment'.

I went home and researched what plastic free alternatives were available and looked at retailers who were already doing this across the country. I looked at small business premises to rent locally and found a perfect sized lock up shop to open in February 2023. The positive feedback from my customers was instant and I have lots of regular customers who support me and say how happy my shop makes them feel!
