On Tuesday, 18th June 2024, #SBS Small Business Sunday Creator Theo Paphitis joined the Leader of the Labour Party, Sir Keir Starmer, for a walk around Basingstoke to discuss Labour’s plans for revitalising the High Street should they win the 2024 General Election.
Theo also had the opportunity to meet with the local Labour candidate for Basingstoke, Luke Murphy to see what his vision was for the local community.
During the day, Theo introduced Keir to one of his #SBS (Small Business Sunday) winners, Laura Llewellyn, owner of the Hampshire School of Jewellery. The visit included a hands-on jewellery-making demonstration in which both Theo and Keir participated, showcasing the craft and creativity behind the small business.
They also took the opportunity to discuss the significant role small businesses, such as the Hampshire School of Jewellery, play in the UK economy. The day shined a spotlight on the need for supportive policies to foster growth and sustainability for the SMEs that form the lifeblood of our economies and are the fabric of our communities.
