My SBS win came at a great time for me, just as my business was taking off. Theo's re-tweet created instant interest on Twitter and the local press coverage proved invaluable.
It is worth it's weight in gold to be recognised by a businessman as successful as Theo Paphitis and my win gave me a massive boost to get out there and proudly shout about what I do best.
Since winning, I really haven't looked back. In just 8 months Bookkeeping Boutique has grown, referrals are streaming in and I am now in a position where I've recruited some help!
I'm university educated with over 15 years experience in industry accounting roles and a proud AAT qualified professional.
During my professional career in employment I worked for a diverse range of companies, ranging from a design consultancy to a leisure company. As the roles became more senior, I strived to further my knowledge and experience and this certainly paid off when I set up my own business.
Following the birth of my second child in 2011, I decided to take the plunge whilst I was on maternity leave and Bookkeeping Boutique was officially born. Feedback from friends and family involved in running small businesses told me that much of the accounting advice they received baffled them and there was a need for useful financial information that they could understand. My approach to bookkeeping and accounts is to keep it simple, current, user-friendly and pro-active.
I embraced the networking circles, made some great contacts and the rest is history. I haven't looked back. My client base fast reached capacity and the Boutique is now expanding to accommodate new clients.
