I’m a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and have a Masters in Human Resource Management. I’ve also recently completed my MBA.

People First - Look after your people and they will look after everything else.
Communication is key - Talk to your teams on a regular basis. Gain feedback, you are not expected to have all the answers, involve your people.
Continuous cycle - A once a year survey is not enough, you need regular 121's, team briefings, company updates etc.
Act - Make sure you give feedback on feedback, even if you are saying no to requests, explain why. Employees are OK with bad news, we just don't like no news.
