The little button co

The little button co began in 2010 while I was on maternity leave with my little girl. My mum in law taught me how to use a sewing machine so I could make some curtains to fit in with our newly decorated room-before this I was unable to even thread a sewing machine! I fell in love with sewing and the joy of creating something special from very little.
With my new love and skill I invested £38.08 in some fabric to make some cushions to sell with the sewing machine I had borrowed-I couldn't believe it when they actually sold!
Since those early days I have re-invested every penny i've made to create the collections we have now. The product range has grown through customer requests and we now stock a ceramics range which I have designed and is hand made for us in stoke on trent.
Our most successful range is the Yorkshire Collection-you don't have to talk to me for long to realise I am a Yorkshire Lass and creating a collection which incorporates my love of sewing and the Yorkshire accent was a dream come true!
From the small beginnings at the kitchen table by January this year the business had taken over the house so we moved the business into the workshop we are in now with the added bonus of a small shop at the side too.
In June this year we opened a second shop in The Grand Arcade which is in the centre of Leeds-a huge leap-but such an amazing opportunity to put our handmade products in front of a big audience.
Along with our own two shops and our beautiful website, the Yorkshire Collection which I designed is also available in over 20 independent and farm shops across Yorkshire.
It has been an amazing journey so far and unbelievable how far I seem to have come, I am very lucky to have the help and support of my family-they are such an amazing bunch, as I have now realised I only have one pair of hands and they aren't always enough-they're help is invaluable! Looking forward to my next challenge and now being a part of the #SBS community!
