My Buzz

#SBS has been fantastic for my business since winning on Sunday 25th March 2012 and it has given me so much inspiration to move forward & develop new ideas.

My Bio

Since I left college in 1998, I have gained a wealth of experience in administration and customer service. I have worked for a number of companies in various sectors & roles, predominately in the aviation industry and then more recently in recruitment. My last position in the corporate world was as an Office & Quality Supervisor for a leading international aviation services company based at Gatwick. I was responsible for the day to day running of the administration office, working directly for the General Manager of the South East region and the 4 other managers based at the site.

In 2011 I decided to start my own business providing business & admin support on a freelance basis as I could see there was a demand in this current economic climate. I felt that with the experience I had gained in my career I was well placed to provide this support, and as a real life ‘Monica’ I could offer a really special service.

Companies large and small cannot necessarily afford to hire permanent staff but still need support in order to grow and drive their business forward, and that is where I can help. I work on an hour by hour basis and provide all my own equipment, there is no holiday or sick pay to worry about and I pay my own tax, so all in all, a win win for any business needing extra support.

My Business Tips

My first business tip would be research, research, research! Find out who else if offering your product or service and see how you can be different to stand out from the crowd and give yourself that infamous ‘USP’!

My second business tip would be get involved with Social Media immediately and be committed to it. It is incredibly hard work in the beginning especially on a platform like Twitter as it can seem overwhelming, especially the pace it moves at, but once you get the hang of it, it is amazing! Don't just be a robot put some of ‘you’ into it too, then people can see how passionate you are about your business and want to buy from you - my motto on Twitter has always been ‘people buy from people’ and that personal touch is what a lot of the big firms miss!

Lastly, support others and use Twitter to connect with all types of businesses, you never know where the next opportunity might come from & as Theo has shown, the power of a re-tweet should never be underestimated!
