My Buzz
Rose & Olive were my two late Grandmothers who loved their cups of tea and so it seemed a fitting tribute to name our vintage themed catering and tearoom business in memory of them.
Since we began in June 2014 we have hosted hundreds of beautiful vintage tea parties, pop up tearooms and supper clubs brought to the venue of people's choosing. May 2017 saw us open our first permanent vintage tearoom premises on Uckfield High Street, East Sussex serving all day brunches, light lunches, cake, cream teas, afternoon teas and refreshments in a wonderfully nostalgic atmosphere.
My Bio
I wasn't born desiring to be an entrepreneur - rather my calling found me after I had spent time in retail roles and six years as a Police Officer in the Metropolitan Police. All of this experience has shaped me to be the businesswoman I am today.
My first foray into running my own business came in the form of a vintage hen party business which I started whilst still working as a Police Officer. I planned hen parties all across the UK and won awards. My passion for vintage and love of afternoon tea superseded this and in June 2014 I left the Police to become a fully fledged business owner with Rose & Olive.
In 2016 Rose & Olive were chosen by Small Business Saturday to be one of their 100 chosen businesses. We enjoyed nationwide media coverage with articles in The Daily Telegraph and local press, radio appearances on BBC Radio Kent, a coveted spot on the side of the Small Business Saturday Bus which toured the UK and a private reception at 10 Downing Street.
I have also been a guest speaker at the launch of the f:entrepreneur campaign at Somerset House, London on International Womens' Day 2017.
My Business Tips
Never, ever, ever give up' - It's all too easy to want to quit if things get a bit wobbly but that's precisely the time when you shouldn't. It's in those moments that you'll grow and adapt - and from my own personal experience it's these times that have made me the fearless businesswoman I am today.
'Change your mindset, change your life' - This is so true. You could have the best business in the world but if your mindset is whack and you're feeling negative this will hinder your success. Focus on what it is you desire, don't listen to the naysayers and surround yourself with people that elevate you and push you to be the best version of yourself.
