My Buzz

Thatching for me is not just a living, it is a way of life and a real passion.

The natural beauty of the materials, working in picturesque locations to provide our customers and the public with a beautiful, long lasting roof is what drives me.

My Bio

I started going to work with my father and grandfather from a young age on weekends and holidays. The excitement of watching them work hard to produce a beautiful and long lasting roof drove my love for thatching.

In the summer of 1998, having completed my A Levels, I started thatching full time, serving a traditional apprenticeship of 7 years. In that time, I worked on hundreds of properties, each one unique, from small well heads to new builds, massive stable blocks to fen cottages, building up a huge amount of experience.

In 2011 I started my own business and have not looked back since. In that time we have won multiple awards for our work, invested in the future of the industry by not only taking on an apprentice, but getting heavily involved in promoting thatching and rural skills to the next generation. I have completed an honours degree in leadership and management as well as help advise Historic England on thatch.
