My Buzz

When somebody commissions me to create a special piece of art it's a true privilege to be entrusted with something so personal.

I love the process of working with my customer to create something that's truly one of a kind and that they will be able to treasure for many years to come.

Another lovely bonus of the work I do is when I occasionally get to hand over a final piece in person and see the recipient’s reaction. There is no other feeling quite like it.

My Bio

I’m Mel Langton and I’m a Lincoln based artist who creates vibrant, original artwork, bespoke illustrations and custom portraits, using both digital and traditional techniques.

I moved from Leicester to Lincoln back in 1998 to study Graphic Design and Illustration at De Montford University and in 2001 I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Illustration, in which I chose to specialise.

My would describe my artwork as colourful, bold and edgy and I really love to create pieces that pop with colour!

Music, lifestyle, alternative culture and mental health awareness are big themes within my work. Strong female characters and inspirational individuals also feature heavily, and this relates back to my years on track playing the full contact sport of roller derby.

I have also created artwork for a number of public art trails over recent years and these have helped to raise a huge amount of money for good causes, the most recent of which included designing and painting three Knights for the Lincoln Knights' Trail.

Last year I created a Lincoln Imp for a much anticipated trail which will now be taking place this summer.

Along with my more recognisable artwork I am also known for my comical creation Slothypops the Sloth, who has his own growing social media following and is famed for his rather unusual escapades.

As well as creating commissioned art I also regularly exhibit my original artwork at art exhibitions, artist markets and I sell my pieces through my online stores.
