My Buzz

The #SBS win has increased our online presence and we now have a lot more followers who may or may not read our tweets!! This is helping us to get our message out that accountants are a useful tool for businesses and we are not all boring number crunchers (although we secretly probably are)!

My Bio

After qualifying at Parkers in 2007 I moved to BDO at Gatwick. Unfortunately I did not enjoy working for such a large company so I moved back to a Sussex based practice. I am a Chartered Certified Accountant with over 14 years experience in local practices. I am now a partner at Parkers (Chartered Accountants and Registered Auditors) in Hove and work in audit and accounts with my own client portfolio. I have always worked in Sussex and I have many years of experience in local accounting practices. I am a qualified full member of the ACCA and particularly specialise in the following:
- Small companies and owner managed businesses in all industries,
- Sole traders and partnerships,
- Annual accounts,
- Business start-up advice,
- Taxation advice and planning,
- Budgets and cashflow forecasts,
- Accounting systems development; and
- Research & Development tax credits.
I am known as a proactive Accountant with fresh ideas who is here to help drive your business forward and hopefully save you money.

My Business Tips

There are many types of SME finance. An accountant will be able to help you make the right decision, but you must speak to them first!
You don't have to waste money on bookkeeping software, sometimes a simple spreadsheet does the job and can be easier to understand.
If you have your accounts and/or tax return prepared early it will give you a heads up on any tax liabilities & avoid those nasty penalties. Even if you file your personal tax return, in say May, the tax is not due until the following January and July.
Always ensure your accountant is registered with a professional body such as ICAEW or ACCA. ICAEW and ACCA members are fully qualified accountants and are monitored, those who are not members are not fully qualified accountants and have no professional body to monitor them.
Management accounts are a useful business tool when prepared correctly. They can also be cost effective & reduce your annual accounts fee.
Making a budget is a great way to ensure you don't over spend and it will allow you to keep track of any future tax bill!
