Sarah Epsom's journey as a watercolour artist and illustrator is a testament to the power of resilience and the transformative nature of art. Inspired by her Kenyan roots and a lifelong love for the natural world, Sarah's artistic journey began as a personal escape, a source of solace amidst life's challenges.
In 2017, the joy of motherhood was met with unexpected health challenges. It was through this period that Sarah discovered the profound healing power of creativity. Painting became her sanctuary and a catalyst for a deeper appreciation of life's beauty and the preciousness of time.
In 2020, amidst nursery runs and a career in television, Sarah began painting in her spare moments, finding solace in nature's beauty. In 2021 she launched her debut greeting card range, "Meliora" (Latin for "for the pursuit of the better"), just before the birth of her second son. This marked the beginning of her thriving small business.
"Meliora" collection found its way onto shelves across the UK, marking a significant milestone. This success was followed by a prestigious commission in 2022 from the WWT, the UK's leading wetland and conservation charity. Sarah created "Apricus" (Warmed by the Sun), a bespoke card range showcasing UK wetland biodiversity, sold nationwide in WWT shops.
Since then, Sarah has flourished into the Homeware sector, securing personal commissions and collaborating with renowned homeware brands like BlissHome.
In April 2024, she successfully hosted a pop-up shop at John Lewis with The Great Brand Exchange, gaining invaluable customer insights. Sarah's work, characterised by vibrant colours, intricate details, and a dynamic sense of movement, captures the wonder and awe of the natural world.
Sustainability is at the heart of Sarah's business. She partners with local UK printers, uses FSC-certified paper, and employs compostable packaging, minimising her environmental impact. She continues to expand her collections, driven by a passion for nature and seeks collaborations with charities where possible.
She is currently working on further collections and preparing for her first trade show, London Top Drawer in January 2026.
