My Buzz

As a plus-size woman wanting to workout in both comfort and style, I found that global and highstreet brands failed to cater for my body shape and needs. After 5+ years of research, design and trials, I launched Well Fit in 2023.

Well Fit's unique design training top features a secret cinch waist panel that can be tucked into your leggings so that you can workout, burpee, handstand and jump around in pure confidence. The longer length tunic fit is a flattering shape, designed specifically for plus-size women (so that we can show off our shape and not hide it behind an ill-fitting baggy tee).

The range is growing and so is our community - I would love you to join us on our socials and please feel free to ask me any questions.

My goal for the next 12 months is to secure angel investment to nurture the brand and gain visibility. The dream is to build a range of timeless garments for women and be in bricks and mortar so that plus-size women can try on our range in real life!

Our whole range is made in the UK (in Newcastle) and the fabrics chosen are sustainable and ethically produced.

My Bio

After a traumatic divorce that involved my ex coercing me into bankruptcy and leaving me for his best friend within 3 months, I was left without a home, bank cards, job or livelihood. Unsurprisingly, I was diagnosed with clinical depression, and as the weight piled on, my self-confidence plummeted, at the lowest health I could be physically and mentally, I had to find a way to get myself out of the situation I was in.

This sounds like an X-Factor sob story from the early 00's, but it was the catalyst to start my passion project, Well Fit. I signed up with a personal trainer in Liverpool who helped set me on the right track, however my gym wear was poor, ill-fitting, not fit for purpose. I needed performance-based activewear that fitted my bigger body and gave me the extra boost to go further and try harder, and when I couldn't find it, I designed my own.

My Business Tips

My business tips:

  • Focus on customer experience - i was so focussed on the product that it took me down a different path and so I am now leaning in to what my customer should feel like when they wear Well Fit, how they feel on a day-to-day basis about themselves and why would they want to/need to join the Well Fit community.
  • Stay adabtable and embrace change - thanks to all the pseudo successful people on Instagram and other platforms, it's common to assume that you start a business, everyone buys your product and now you can holiday all the time and buy a house. This was not and is not true for Well Fit. I scary fact is that 96% of business fail within 3 years (learned at Ideas Fest), so my advice is to be adaptable, learn as you go and embrace the failings, celebrate the successes and always ask for help when you need it! I am still learning and grafting and believe I will be in the 4%!
