We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have been presented with the Gold Award for the Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year at the South West Tourism Awards 2023. The South West Tourism Awards cover Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and is the largest of the nine regions of the UK.
Our nomination for the South West Tourism Awards came following our three Gold Award successes in the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards in the Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year 2022/23, Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Business and the Winner of Winners award. The South West Tourism Awards saw almost 500 entries this year from tourism businesses across the region.
Pamela and Christina attended the awards ceremony on the evening of 23 March at the Eden Project, with four finalists in the Camping and Caravanning Park of the Year category from across the South West. We were very proud to be the only representative from South Somerset and the only adult only park finalist, as well as the only 5* VisitEngland rated Touring and Camping Park. The Gold announcement came as a complete shock to us as a small, family-run park, pitted against some fantastic offerings from Devon and Cornwall.
We have received excellent feedback from the visiting judges, who commended us on areas including our “commitment to providing the best possible welcome for all of their guests. Their passion for making facilities accessible is clearly evident as is their desire to be as eco-friendly as possible.” A second judge added: “Very impressive. It’s not surprising that this park has achieved such success in a variety of awards. I was left with no hesitation in seeing that this is a high quality holiday park that takes pride in offering an excellent experience on a consistent basis.“
We are so pleased to have achieved such great success and have already received equally wonderful congratulations from our customers – their enthusiasm and love for our home, and our garden which make up the business really has meant so much. Last year saw us welcome the largest ever number of guests through our gates, with new visitors travelling from as far afield as Japan, South Africa and Brazil to stay with us. We also welcomed a record number of visitors from Somerset, looking to explore their own home county from another perspective!
As a family, we are in our 26th year of owning and running Long Hazel Park, with so many changes made along the way. Our most recent improvements include the very popular addition of fully serviced touring pitches; our newly refurbished shower block and an exciting accessible project due to launch later this Spring.
