On 1st August 2024 Party Without Plastic® was officially recognised as a Plastic-Free Champion thanks to securing the Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) Plastic-Free Champion accreditation.
The SAS Plastic Free Champion award is designed specifically for independent, locally owned SME businesses. As well as considering the wider environmental impact of the business, it is a requirement of the award to remove at least three single-use plastic items, and show a commitment to tackling any others present in the business going forward.
Founder of Party Without Plastic®, Lorraine Allman said “With latest research showing that 90% of respondents prefer to use businesses who have acted on becoming plastic-free to those who have not, it made complete business sense to go through this accreditation, but it’s about more than this – it shows our genuine commitment to transforming the convenience culture of celebrations, leading the way in parties that are good for people and good for the planet.”
The hard work doesn’t stop now, as Lorraine is pursuing the Silver level accreditation which takes things on further by getting involved with local plastic-free initiatives as well as continuing to eliminate some of the ‘big hitters’ of plastic pollution.
