On 22nd March, I attended the Somerset Business Awards 2024 at The Winter Gardens in Weston Super Mare. Organised by Somerset Chamber of Commerce, they are the biggest and most prestigious awards in Somerset with hundreds of businesses applying for the various categories. I was proud to be in the room as the only sole trader among some large, successful companies as a finalist for the ‘Start-Up of the Year Award’. Although I didn’t win the award, being in the final 3 was proof that I am running my business well.
I started my business in February 2023 and along with being a winner of #SBS in November, I received the Surfers Against Sewage ‘Plastic Free Business Champion’ Gold Status as well as being selected by Small Business Britain as one of the top 100 small businesses of 2023. I am also a finalist of the BizBubble Awards (Best New Biz on the Block) and awaiting news for the shortlisting of The Small Awards 2024. I am now focussing on my website to secure the future of my business which will allow me to recruit some staff and take a day off!
